Flexible WIC Appointment Options

At Granville Vance WIC Program, we understand that everyone’s schedule and needs are different. That’s why we are pleased to offer more flexibility in how you can attend your WIC appointments. Now you can choose to have your appointment either in our clinic or remotely, from the comfort of your home. 

How To Schedule Your WIC Appointment

Step 1:  Decide Your Preferred Type of Appointment

  • In-Clinic Appointment:  Personal face to face interaction with our staff at our clinic.
  • Remote Appointment:  Download the required documents needed for your appointment and attend your appointment via telephone from the comfort of your home.

 

Step 2:  Schedule Your Appointment

  • By Phone:  Call our office to schedule an appointment with one of our friendly WIC staff members.
  • By Text:  Text our office at 888-707-0649.

 

Step 3:  Prepare for Your Appointment

  • For In-Clinic Appointments:  The WIC applicant or participant should attend the appointment to have measurements and bloodwork taken.  Bring proof of identity for parent/caretaker and child, proof of residency for family, and proof of income for family for certification appointments.
  • For Remote Appointments:  Download the MyNCWIC Portal to securely download and upload necessary documents for your  appointment.

WIC Qualifying Information

To qualify for the North Carolina WIC Program:

  1. Categorical Eligibility:

    • Pregnant Women: Eligible during pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth or the end of the pregnancy.
    • Breastfeeding Women: Eligible up to the infant’s first birthday as long as they are breastfeeding.
    • Postpartum Women: Non-breastfeeding postpartum women are eligible up to six months after the birth of an infant or after the pregnancy ends.
    • Infants: Eligible up to their first birthday.
    • Children: Eligible up to their 5th birthday.
  2. Residency:

    • Applicants must live in the state of North Carolina. There is no residency requirement in terms of the length of time the applicant has lived in the state.
  3. Income Eligibility:

    • Applicants must meet income eligibility guidelines, which are generally set at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.
    • Automatic eligibility for income guidelines is granted if the applicant participates in other specific assistance programs such as Medicaid, Food Stamps (SNAP Benefits), or Work First.
  4. Nutrition Assessment:

    • Applicants must meet with a nutritionist for an assessment and consultation to discuss their nutritional needs and how WIC can assist.
  5. Documentation Required:

    • Proof of identity (such as a driver’s license or birth certificate).
    • Proof of residence (such as a utility bill or lease agreement).
    • Proof of income (such as pay stubs or a tax return). If the applicant receives benefits like Medicaid, SNAP, or Work First, proof of participation in these programs can be used as proof of income eligibility.
