Worksite Wellness

Many of our local businesses and organizations want to have positive and healthy environments for their employees. This leads to happier people and more productive facilities.

A few examples of things that have been done, include:

  • Creation of walking trails near businesses so that employees have an opportunity to get physical activity during the day
  • Annual screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, etc., along with Health Risk Assessments
  • Vending machines that now have “healthy” snack and beverage choices, like fat-free popcorn instead of candy bars and orange juice instead of orange soda

Employers can use the CDC Worksite Health Scorecard to assess their health promotion programs, identify gaps, and prioritize high-impact strategies to prevent heart disease, stroke, and related conditions. CDC believes worksite health promotion and wellness programs are essential to maintaining a healthy workforce.
